Select your question here: This happens when the hold switch is activated to avoid accidental activation. This switch is located on a narrow side of the unit with an arrow to show direction of hold. A: There's no need to install any additional drivers if you are using Windows XP. If you are using Window 98 then you have to install USB drivers supplied on the CD. The driver will enable Windows 98 to recognise USB flash disks. A1: Try inserting a new battery. A2: Connect up to the computer to see if it is recognised. A3: Player may be damaged, call TeleAdapt for a replacement A: The 128MB player is not compatible with version 9 of Windows Media Player. You can check the version by clicking on HELP in the top tool bar of the program, followed by ABOUT WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER. The version will be displayed like so 8.xx.xx.xxxx or 9.xx.xx.xxxx (X-number). If you do have windows media player version 9 or higher, uninstall it and download media player 7.Alternatively use other programs such as Musicmatch (http://www.musicmatch.com/) or itunes (http://www.apple.com/itunes/). A: You cannot directly transfer music from a CD to the player. You will need to transfer the CD to MP3 or WMA format. MP3 is an independent standard and WMA is the file format created by Windows Media Player. There are many software programs available that let you transfer CD’s to MP3 format. An example is Musicmatch (http://www.musicmatch.com/) or itunes (http://www.apple.com/itunes/). A: If using Windows 98, software will need to be installed. If there is still a problem after the software has been installed and it is still not being recognised, please contact TeleAdapt. The player should be recognised without software under any other operating system approved for use with this product. A: You can get them either by ripping a CD in the WMA or MP3 format (see question “How do I transfer music on a CD to the player?”). You can also download the music files from many sources on the Internet such as www.mp3.com A: As the player is effectively a hard drive you can store any other kind of file. Music formats MP3, MP3Pro and WMA. - MP3: First introduced in 1992, it is the most successful audio-standard since WAV. Using MP3-compression PC-users were able to compress an ordinary music-CD to one tenth of the original size. - MP3Pro: mp3Pro is the next generation of MP3, offering the same quality of MP3 at half the file size. This is achieved by a further compression of a tone’s high frequencies. - WMA: Microsoft’s respond to MP3, the Windows Media Audio-standard. A: The only way of connecting the MP3 player to a computer is via the USB port. You can either do this directly or via the supplied USB cable (recommended). A: No, the memory of the MP3 players cannot be upgraded. A: The product is available directly through TeleAdapt as well as on various airlines. The product may be available in retail shops around the UK as well. A: These two files are created through software programs. The CD is copied to either of these two formats. See also “How do I transfer music on a CD to the player?” A: The player uses a single AAA standard battery. Playback time varies per battery manufacture. A: This will depend on the size of the file and the software program that you use. Typically it will take a few seconds transfer time per megabit of data. A1: The files may have become corrupt while connected to your computer. Use the format function to restore the player to its factory state. Open My Computer/Windows Explorer, right click on Removable Drive icon (this represents the player), select Format option & click start. You can now transfer a music file by using drag & drop onto the player. This file should now be shown on the player LCD screen & play. A2: WMA files being used may not be supported by the player. Check if they have been recorded by Windows Media Player version 9. A1: The files may have been copy protected. Consult your CD download software provider for further details. A2: The files are corrupted. A3: The music format of the copied songs is not MP3 or WMA. A4: The version of WMA you are using is not supported by the player. Try a lower version of the WMA software if you can or alternative convert the track to MP3. A: Depending on which model you have, there are 128MB and 256MB versions available. A: Mega Byte is the size of a file. The larger the MB, the larger the file. The larger each file, the less space for more tracks. A: One AAA size. No preferred manufacture. A: We are unable to determine this until we can test the product with the new operating system. A: With any electrical items please avoid contact with any liquid. The player should not be affected by heat or cold, but over exposure could cause the unit to fail. A: The unit is a strong product and should survive drops. But with any electrical product dropping it can cause damage. A: The music files sold through iTunes appear only to work with The Apple iPod, which the software is originally designed for. The file format may have been created with restrictions. A: Run a format, using the program which can be found on the provided CD. This will restore the player back to factory settings and delete any files in the memory. Please note that it will erase all files on the player. If you do not have the software and need to install itm you can download it from this page. Locate your player and downlad the software. If the problem persist after formatting, please contact technical support Please get in contact with Teleadapt’s technical support. If the product is faulty then a product return number will be created and you will have autorisation to send it back to Teleadapt. We will not refund any delivery charges for returning product. Unauthorised returns will take longer to process. If no information is provided with the return then it will not be processed at all. When returning a player, please include the original earphones and USB cable. If you don not have those two items you can still return the player, where we will supply just a new player. MP3 players will never be repaired by Teleadapt, but replaced. If you have any data on the player that you would like to keep, move it to a location on your computers hard drive. We suggest that you number your files in the order that you want them to apprear on the player. To work in Windows XP, format your MP3 player as a FAT16, rather than a FAT32. If you have formatted it in FAT32, simply reformat but select FAT16. |
